Travel Reimbursement

Up to $500 in travel expenses

Scholarships are awarded through the generosity of past conference organizers, attendees, and partner organizations. The number of scholarships available depends on funding (typically around 5 per year).

Eligibility

• 🏛
  Anyone affiliated with a museum, library, historical society, or related study program — including Museum Studies, Public History, Library and Information Studies, and Historic Preservation.
• 👥
  Full-time or part-time employees, board members, students, interns, and volunteers all qualify.
• ⭐
  Priority given to: first-time attendees, sole attendees from an organization, and applicants from groups historically underserved by the field.
• 🔄
  Past conference attendees are encouraged to apply — but previous winners are not eligible in future years.
• 🌐
  Scholarships are open to U.S. residents and residents of countries that do not require a sponsored visa to visit the U.S.

Expectations

By submitting a completed application, you are confirming your ability to attend if awarded a scholarship. Turning down an award or not attending may affect your eligibility in future years.

Scholarship recipients are asked to assist conference staff during the event. Specific expectations will be communicated after the selection process is complete.

How to Apply

📬 What Happens After You Apply

All submissions must be received by August 1, 2026. The HNSA Scholarship Committee will select winners and notify them by email by August 15, 2026. Awardees pay for travel upfront — HNSA reimburses once receipts are submitted. A discount code for registration will be provided.
